About YABO

YABO is a webinar designed to help young people leave the nest and pursue their dreams with confidence.

Every young person has a dream. You have a dream. The question is, Will your family allow that dream grow into reality? You have plans that can only be attained in an independent environment.

In the name of love, you gradually realize none of your decisions are yours. Yet, you have crossed the age of adulthood eons ago. This is Africa!

Sad as it may seem, it’s a big struggle to chase your dreams and have your family’s support.

YABO is about changing this script. We believe young people should go out, find adventure and create solutions that would bring Africa to a new dawn!

It’s sauce, adventure, coping strategies and all about being African! We are recreating what it means to be young and African.

Maybe this is how children should grow up; in the rough, in the cold, understanding survival and returning home for needed comfort. Maybe home is meant to be that luxury we get once in a while, not our constant reality.

Home is nothing more than a respite from the madness that constitutes our universe. And to be frank, only mad men get anything done in this world of ours.

Will I warn my children with omens and signs? Will I tell my kids about taboos and spirits?

Yes I will; when I am giving them lessons on how a whole continent of the most industrious and powerful humans that could have ruled the earth turned out to be the capital of slavery, the seat of colonialism, the bedrock of racism, the courtyard of mental servitude.

– Excerpt from Being Broke and Out.

Home is nothing more than a respite from the madness that constitutes our universe. And to be frank, only mad men get anything done in this world of ours.
