I have nursed this short story idea for months, I could not really see how it would end but I owe it to all my writer friends to put something out there.

It’s sweet to tell people to share their stories, while you refuse to publish even a single short story.

“Alternative Christ”

was born out of a discussion on my facebook wall some months back, I realized a lot of Christians would rather associate with leaders who push them towards futile ideologies.

A pastor says we should fight back when we are attacked but are we equipped for this? Why does it sound so appealing for men of God to make such bold declarations without backing them up with actual decisions and plans?

Have we asked some Questions?

why do we prefer a fight than the possibility of actually using the tools on ground to our favor? Why can’t we ask God for wisdom to seek alternative ways to influence government?

This story is about “the kind of God we all want,” it’s about the possible humanity of Christ. The conflicts, the questions he also had. The fact that people’s sentiment could push anyone towards strange paths, most times we end up pursuing our own demise. We make rash statements that do not eventually create any change and the vicious cycle of persecution and ineffective change agent continues.

It also points to the possibility that the future may be certain but the path is what remains uncertain, death is an inevitable end.

  1. Abraao Jonathan

Just finished reading it and found it interesting enough, however it would have been better if it did not go all actiony on the last two chapters, it felt too fast paced or should I say…rushed.

The overall ideas were pretty good but the execution was a little bit confusing at first.

The way that judas or Paulus was introduced and revealed was pretty confusing. Other than that it was pretty good, my favorite part was the first 3 chapters as you managed to humanize Jesus without making him less of a Messiah to the people of that land.
I would give this short story a 3/5 or 3 out of 5

I’d like to read an extended version

Thanks so much for this honest feedback, it really got me thinking about how to extensively build the story to full. Most readers have asked for that, thanks again.

Thanks for your sincere feed back Jonathan, hope to see more of this on my next publications. Kindly follow my blog and receive my updates directly to your email.

Mba… Mba… Mba! Damilola you can’t do this to me! This story must continue oooo

I might just consider, let me think on it. 🙂

I kept bothering the link by clicking multiple times hoping to find the complete story. But I must say it’s really thought provoking and a sting to consciousness of religiously misguided fellows who need to see beyond the blurry lines of crispy Christianity.

I hope you finally got the download, just look out for the final page where the link shows “Alternative Christ” in red colour.

Loool. So, I can confidently say Damilola Jonathan is mean. How did he let the story just stop there??? I was so engaged by the mix of the ‘human’ Jesus willing to give the people what they wanted and the ‘divine’ Jesus wanting to fulfill prophecies and complete His mission. This should be read…if not for anything, just so that you can join me to pester Dami for the proper end of the story.

Heheheh, I don’t know if it’s my target word count or the fact that I don’t like boring my reader. I like walking off the scene just at that moment, it’s a good bad habit. Nice to see you enjoyed it 😉
