School of common Sense: Fight Failure

Note: my opinion here is to some extent faith-based, don’t fight it but you can say your own piece.
Role of Parents, Church and Nation in the Academic Excellence of Students
II PETER 1:5 – 8   And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

There is no need for a dictionary meaning to explain academics. The four walls of school, study, literacy, knowledge of any form could be seen as academics.

Excellence is explained by English Dictionary (based on wiktionary.org) as the quality of being excellent; state of possessing good qualities in an eminent degree; exalted merit; Superiority in Virtue. There is a video of a 5 year old girl (Margaret) who tells the story of Jonah in a most fascinating way which even many full-grown preachers may never be able to mimic. On the other hand many Nigerian children, cannot spell their names yet they are very much capable of producing the most vulgar insults and mime secular musicians almost to perfection.

Excellence could be traced to the root word “Exceed” which in some form refers to comparison, probably a benchmark. The Child who exceeds expectations has excelled, the child who breaks records has excelled, the child who does the out of ordinary has excelled. However, the trouble with this good desire which everyone wants is that the child is like a newly hatched chick and would either live or die, either live well or live wretched, will either be fat or thin, will either be admired or disdained, either be motivated or despised.

Synonyms for Excellence: Superiority, pre-eminence, perfection, worth, goodness, purity, greatness. The child according to God’s plan and design is yet untainted, pure, perfect, pre-eminent, worthy and good but within the first few years of  his/her sojourn on earth, a strange lesson school resumes session and it is this lesson school that determines if the child will excel in any institution (representing academics) which his society makes available. The child is taught to be base, animal instincts are instilled in him, fear, wrath, haste, power lust. How does he get schooled?
The Nation a child is born into is never a choice he gets to make, in fact of the three influences (Nation, Parent, Church), only the Church may be a subject of choice which in most cases is not even left to the child.
PROVERBS 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.

The failing nation is first of all a very large school that not only influences the child but also the Church and Parents. The Corrupt nation will instill fears of unfounded basis in the child. Fear of hunger, Fear of death, Fear of hardship and so on, the child learns to live habitually in fear of the unknown, the failing nation also teaches the child to be selfish; the struggle for dominance (survival of the fittest). The child even learns to live by wrong values like “nothing comes free” and as such he/she mentally believes that all they get is what they deserve and that anything they do not have is what they don’t deserve, this leaves most children in an ever continuous struggle to please the society, to please their Parents and all in the hopes that they will be counted worthy citizens of this failing state. One of the fundamental rights of the human is the right to life; the right to live and be treated as human. The failing nation state instills even in the subconscious of Parents and churches a false heirachy that makes children in their view, just a little above animals when in true sense, they are the perfection according to the words of Jesus.
LUKE 18:16 But Jesus called them [unto him], and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

The Failing Church: God’s tool for justifying or otherwise condemning the corrupt world should be his bride who has remained spotless in a corrupt Nation. However, if the church peradventure gets priorities mixed and accepts the world as its benchmark then the probability that her garment will remain spotless is low. When the custodian of true judgement has failed, the child is subject to a diseased system of judgement, his values are not based on the power of God working through a body of sanctified Parents, rather he arrives into a community of robbers and sorcerers who turn the church into business opportunity, societies and institutions. He is alienated from the very place where his ability to say no to the base instincts he has gotten from the Nation should be treated. Is the church not already as such?
The Parents: of course the smallest unit of a nation is the family which includes Parents and children. Despite all the evil tendencies the child may be exposed to by the nation and the church the final place of solution is within the confines of the home. A broken home is not one that does not have a house, or that does not have a car, it is the joining of one or two broken people in a broken Matrimony. Marriage is not for perfect people, no it is not. However, the essence of Marriage is that the bond of love, through the power of God, will make the flaws and cracks to disappear and be replaced by solid reinforcements of affection and grace. Parents who have not submitted to the grace of God and also who have not learnt to develop good morals are the most dangerous influences on a child. Parents may be very spiritual and good Christians yet they could be lacking in virtue, attitude. Parents may have terrible sentiments and attitudes that could forever mar the child. The whole summation is here, if the Parents fail to be educated into an attitude of excellence or perfection as defined in this article; Superiority, pre-eminence, perfection, worth, goodness, purity, greatness also as seen in II PETER 1:5 – 8 ; if they lack the ability to be as new born babes and I mean this literally, then the child is doomed, because he will be educated by the most uneducated persons. He will be taught to accept the evil instincts he has seen in the failing nation and church, he will embrace solitude rather than freedom of expression, he will embrace bashfulness instead of confidence, he will entertain fears to the worst degrees and most of all he will run far from the God who has his purpose sketched out.
To excel as a child in academics can only be achieved when the student is taught to overcome the negative forces of the failing Nation, Church or Parent.
